Short-Form Content
I led the design phase of a new short-form feature for TV apps and devices to help increase user engagement and position the business competitively against Netflix’s Fast Laughs, Prime Video’s recaps, Youtube Shorts and TikTok’s dominance in quick entertainment.
Final designs
My design for the entry point (carousel) needed to stand out from others on the homepage and the video player needed to accommodate both horizontal and vertical formats.
Early concepts
I explored options for the carousel and video player that used existing components in our design system as well as bespoke ideas. This helped my team form stronger opinions and align with leadership.
For the carousel, I was inspired by designs used by social media platforms—a vertical format with clear text. For the video player, I took inspiration from multiple competitors and created a design specific to Paramount.
Prototypes and mapping
Creating flow charts and prototypes ia a normal part of my work as a Product Designer. These are important skills that help identify challenges, clarify requirements, visualize the concepts, and create alignment across the organization.
Aligned direction
I was inspired by designs used by social media platforms for our carousel—a vertical format with clear text that sets expectations.
The bespoke player took pieces of inspiration from competitors and best practices when designing for TV's.
Where I left it
After extending my contract twice, Paramount's goal was to convert me to full-time. Due to the pending Skydance acquisition, they could not extend it a third time. If you'd like to learn about other projects I worked on at Paramount, feel free to reach out.
